45 Common Fabrics and Care Tips — Part 5:Sateen、Crepe、Oxford、Seersucker、Corduroy

Sateen
Features:
A cotton fabric woven in a satin weave, giving it a smooth, silk-like surface with a subtle sheen. It feels soft and drapes beautifully, but is prone to snagging and pilling.
Care:
Hand-wash gently in cold water to preserve its luster. Iron at low temperature (below 120 °C / 250 °F). Avoid contact with rough surfaces.

Crepe
Features:
Characterized by its naturally crinkled texture achieved through special weaving or finishing techniques, crepe fabric offers elasticity, texture, and excellent wrinkle resistance. However, it requires gentle care after washing.
Care:
Hand-wash gently in cold water; do not twist or wring. Hang to dry to maintain the crinkle effect. Steam ironing is recommended for the best result.

Oxford
Features:
A durable fabric woven with a double warp and single weft structure, Oxford cloth is thick, abrasion-resistant, and breathable — making it ideal for shirts, bags, and uniforms.
Care:
Machine washable and resistant to deformation. Iron at medium temperature (around 160 °C / 320 °F). Tumble dry at low heat if needed. Highly durable and easy to maintain.

Seersucker
Features:
Woven using a special technique that creates a puckered, bumpy surface, seersucker is highly breathable and naturally textured. It requires no ironing but tends to trap dust in the creases.
Care:
Machine wash in cold water; no need to iron. Hang to dry and use a soft brush occasionally to remove dust.

Corduroy
Features:
Recognized for its raised vertical ribs, corduroy is soft, warm, and comfortable. Over time, the ridges naturally fade, developing a unique vintage look.
Care:
Turn inside out for machine washing to protect the pile. Avoid high-heat drying. Steam ironing gives the best finish. Regularly brush along the nap direction to maintain texture.
